WELCOME

Better decisions create better outcomes.

Evidence-led models, research and practical frameworks helping organisations improve outcomes for people, the planet, prosperity and resilience.

Welcome

Thank you for visiting.

Over the past forty years I have had the privilege of working with businesses, governments, charities and universities, helping organisations navigate change, improve performance and create long-term value.

During that time I became increasingly convinced that many of the challenges we face are not isolated problems waiting for individual solutions. Climate change, declining trust, artificial intelligence, geopolitical instability, demographic change, inequality and inequity, supply chain resilience and economic uncertainty are all interconnected. Yet organisations often attempt to address them through disconnected management systems.

The Harrop Framework™ is my attempt to bring those disciplines together into a single, evidence-led approach to decision-making.

It is founded on a simple belief: better decisions create better outcomes. When organisations place people at the heart of those decisions, they are better able to protect the planet, create prosperity and build the resilience needed to thrive in an increasingly uncertain world.

This website shares the models, research and practical tools that have emerged from that journey.

Why I Created The Harrop Framework™

Throughout my career I have worked with organisations that genuinely wanted to do the right thing.

Many invested heavily in sustainability programmes. Others focused on governance, innovation, leadership, human rights or operational excellence.

Almost all were trying to solve important problems.

The difficulty was that these initiatives were often developed independently of one another. Sustainability became a department rather than a way of thinking. Strategy became disconnected from purpose. Innovation became disconnected from trust. Risk became disconnected from opportunity.

I began to ask a simple question.

What if these are not separate disciplines at all?
What if they are simply different perspectives on the same challenge: helping organisations make better decisions?

The Harrop Framework™ is the result of that thinking.

The Central Proposition

Organisations create sustainable competitive advantage when they consistently make better evidence-based decisions that improve outcomes for People, Planet, Prosperity and Resilience.

Why People Come First

One of the most important conclusions I have reached is that organisations do not ultimately exist to generate profit, reduce carbon emissions or achieve compliance.

They exist to improve people’s lives.

  • Customers
  • Employees
  • Investors
  • Suppliers
  • Communities
  • Future generations

Every strategic decision should ultimately be judged by the value it creates for people.

Four Outcomes

People

Creating value for people through better products, better services, better work and stronger communities.

Planet

Protecting and regenerating the natural systems upon which all prosperity ultimately depends.

Prosperity

Creating sustainable competitive advantage through innovation, productivity, trust and responsible growth.

Resilience

Developing organisations capable of learning, adapting and thriving in an increasingly complex world.

The Architecture

Evidence Before Opinion

Evidence should always outweigh opinion.

Every significant idea presented within The Harrop Framework™ has been shaped by research, practical implementation, international standards and collaboration with businesses, governments and academic institutions.

An Invitation

The Harrop Framework™ is not presented as the final answer. It is an evolving body of knowledge. As new evidence emerges, technologies develop and society changes, I expect the framework to evolve with it.

My hope is that the ideas shared here will help organisations ask better questions, make better decisions and create better outcomes for the people they serve.

Welcome to the journey.
